The SMALL research group is currently operating at full capacity and does not anticipate recruiting new members during the current academic year. However, outstanding candidates who believe their research interests and background align well with the group's mission are always encouraged to contact us. 

We primarily recruit Ph.D. students through the Physical Chemistry track of the UC San Diego Chemistry PhD Program. Prospective students may also apply through the Materials Science and Engineering Graduate Program. We welcome applicants with undergraduate training in chemistry, physics, materials science, mathematics, or related disciplines.

We also welcome inquiries from prospective postdoctoral scholars with research interests or experience in scanning tunneling microscopy, ultrafast laser spectroscopy, or related experimental techniques. To discuss future opportunities, please contact shaoweili@ucsd.edu.
